Health for All – Strengthening complementary means of laboratory diagnosis in Sao Tome and Principe

We contribute to universal access of the population of Sao Tome and Principe to quality health care and promote access to complementary means of laboratory diagnosis at central and district level.

• To rehabilitate, equip and make operational the laboratory infrastructure of Dr. Ayres de Menezes Hospital and others at district level;
• Improve the technical and material conditions of the preventive and primary care network at district level.

• Undertaking the needs evaluation and operationalisation plan;
• Carrying out works and improvements in the laboratory of the Dr Ayres de Menezes Central Hospital;
• Carrying out works and improvements in laboratories at district level;
• Acquiring laboratory equipment and materials;
• Supplying laboratory reagents and consumables;
• Equipping Dr. Ayres de Menezes Central Hospital and others at district level with furniture and complementary materials;
• Providing technical support for the use and management of laboratory equipment and facilities;
• Providing technical assistance and in-person and telematic training in clinical pathology and health projections.

• All the santomean population, as users of the National Health Service;
• 73 laboratory technicians at a national level;
• 3 doctors, 2 laboratory technicians and 1 equipment maintenance technician benefiting from long and medium-term training in Portugal;
• Sao Tome and Principe Ministry of Health.
